Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Do you require appointments or are you walk in only?
A: We very highly recommend appointments, which you can make by calling 503-620-0240. We do take walks ins upon availability. This means that we may happen to have an opening when you walk in, or more likely we will be booked but will welcome you to wait to see if a stylist is running early and can squeeze you in between clients--if they believe they have time to perform a quality haircut. Here at Little Clippers, we stress quality of haircuts, not how many we can squeeze in in a day. In other words, you can always try to walk in (we understand that life is busy!), but it is not guaranteed.Q: What age does my child have to be?
A: Absolutely any age! We welcome everybody, from newborns to senior citizens. We often cut hair on very young children, so do not feel apprehensive about bringing your baby in. We also have "big kid" chairs for those who are young at heart: we love cutting older children as well as moms and dads, or grandmas and grandpas! Need a hair cut but can't get a babysitter? Come on in! All of our stylists are professionally trained to cut all ages and all types of hair, and there is plenty to keep your child distracted and happy, and plenty of friendly employees and receptionists to keep an eye on them while you relax.Q: But my child is really wiggly. And screams. A lot. Can you really give them a decent haircut? And not cut off an ear?
A: Yes! That is what we're here for. We have plenty of distractions for the little ones, including fun chairs to sit in, toys, bubbles, and TVs at every hair cutting station so they can watch videos. (We provide a wide selection, from Thomas the Train and Dora to Scooby Doo and Spongebob!) They can also sit in your lap during the cut if you prefer. Our stylists are trained to be gentle and patient, and we can assure you we have not had any lost ears yet.We also understand that bringing in a nervous, wiggly child, especially for a first haircut, can be a big deal for many parents and children. Q: It's my baby's first haircut. Can we save a piece of hair/take pictures/videotape/bring along the entire extended family?
A: Yes, yes, and yes. We will save a lock for you and attach it to a First Haircut Certificate for all your baby book and scrapbooking needs or to place proudly on your fridge.Q: Are you open Sundays?
A: Yep! We are open seven days a week from 9-6.Q: How far out do we need to make an appointment?
A: It depends. Usually calling the day before is a good bet; it is often very possible to make an appointment the day of. Our busiest times are Saturdays and Sundays (especially in the morning), and during the school year, in the after-school 2-6 afternoon times during the week. If you need any of these times, it may be best to plan a few days ahead. Also, August and September in the back-to-school season is our busiest time of the year; we book up fast every day during that time, so be prepared! You can also book out as far in advance as you would like. We are also very busy during holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas in particular.Q: My child is going to be in a wedding/religious event/Father and Daughter dance/etc. Can you do something special?
A: We would love to. These fun styles and updos do take us a bit longer, so scheduling a little in advance for these so we can allot enough time in our schedule would be great.Q: How much does it cost?
A: Our standard price for a haircut is $16.95. A buzz cut (which means clippers only all around) is $12.95, and a bang trim is $7.95. If you are bringing in a baby for a first haircut and we don't cut off that much hair, we may charge slightly less, but it is up to the stylist. An adult cut for any mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, friend, or anyone, is $19.95. We can also shampoo for an extra $3 on any cut; otherwise we simply mist and wet the hair before the cut.Q: Can you color or highlight my child's hair?
A: Unfortunately no. To keep our salon as healthy and kid-friendly as possible, we stay away from any services which involve chemicals or more intense treatment.Q: I just heard about an outbreak of lice at school/camp. Do you have any advice??
A: We do! This is a big issue for many kids and parents, and so we strongly advise you to click here for more information on both lice and our salon policies. We also encourage you, if you are at your wits end and want professional help, to visit another great kid-friendly local business, Lice Knowing You.Q: I'm on my way to my haircut right now, but my car just broke down/there is impossible traffic/my child is having a temper tantrum! In other words, I am going to be late! What can I do?
A: We sympathize! Our late policy, however, only goes up to 10 minutes after your appointment time. 5-10 minutes will usually be fine, but any later than that, we will probably not have time. We schedule busy days with 30 minutes per haircut, with no break time in between each one, and we try our hardest to stay on schedule. There is no charge for missed appointments or anything, but please give us a call and let us know if you're going to be late or won't be able to make it in.Q: You used to have a location in Clackamas, right? What happened to it?
A: Yes, due to the weak economy, our location near Clackamas Town Center did unfortunately close down for good in the fall of 2009. We do regret to report this news, but our Lake Oswego location is still thriving and will be around for a long time to come!
Any other questions? Feel free to call and ask our friendly receptionists; we will be glad to help.
